Hi ewong
-
ewong
hi frg_away!
-
frg_away
ewong how is it going? still busy at work?
-
ewong
frg_away: yes.. quite so.
-
ewong
frg_away: how are you?
-
frg_away
ewong I think you haven't started 2.49.4 but just hold it. 52.9 is only a week away.
-
frg_away
ewong yeah was busy at work and with private things. family and co. Didn't have time for much. Should be better in a week. Fog is clearing :)
-
ewong
frg_away: I wish I could say the same on the 'fog is clearing'..
-
frg_away
ewong if not in this then in the next life. I plan to become a stone and just watch things.
-
NewTobinParadigm
super ewong 64 and frg_away II turbo
-
frg_away
Hi NewTobinParadigm
-
ewong
frg_away: fossilizing ftw!
-
frg_away
ewong I am already a fossil looking at the things I like most :)
-
NewTobinParadigm
have to write the PANEL this week
-
NewTobinParadigm
hardest part
-
NewTobinParadigm
i mean it shouldn't be THAT difficult
-
NewTobinParadigm
but i have to make sure I get it right
-
NewTobinParadigm
don't want to screw up and bust the datastore its self
-
NewTobinParadigm
or send out corrupted files
-
NewTobinParadigm
or anything
-
NewTobinParadigm
least my new auth class is working well
-
NewTobinParadigm
of course things could be better like some cross referencing ownership on the actual website and have developer pages
-
NewTobinParadigm
but functional first.. niceities second
-
NewTobinParadigm
only been promicing this crap for over 3 years now
-
NewTobinParadigm
heh
-
NewTobinParadigm
i wish I could find some other people who knew php
-
NewTobinParadigm
so i could talk to them
-
ewong
I'm certain freenode's #php might help
-
NewTobinParadigm
i can do it.. what i mean is be able to talk with people i know about php in some depth
-
NewTobinParadigm
like if I were to talk to any one of you about javascript
-
NewTobinParadigm
THAT sort of thing
-
NewTobinParadigm
what I need to do isn't super difficult to do just need to make sure I get it right is all
-
NewTobinParadigm
and if they are freenode php developers they will likely have notions in their head and think I am approching things incorrectly because I am not using a framework.. etc
-
NewTobinParadigm
you know ewong
-
ewong
NewTobinParadigm: um.. those in #php don't know php in depth or am I missing something?
-
NewTobinParadigm
ewong: there is a culture in open source that I am not a fan of.. elitism
-
NewTobinParadigm
if I go to #php and if i can GET someone to look at my code they would then start commenting on all kinds of aspects of why it isn't good in their opinion and any HELP i were to request the bulk of them would suggest off the shelf solutions etc
-
NewTobinParadigm
it just wouldn't end well
-
NewTobinParadigm
I don't need help perse it would just be nice to be able to speak to some non-elitist corrupted php people about php sometimes
-
NewTobinParadigm
you understand ewong
-
NewTobinParadigm
all the php people i know right now have decided they hate php
-
ewong
NewTobinParadigm: why's that?
-
NewTobinParadigm
php isn't fasionable anymore
-
NewTobinParadigm
everyone has to be an elitist or at the least an extremeist
-
NewTobinParadigm
and it is very easy to fall into that trap
-
NewTobinParadigm
trust me I know
-
ewong
you're kinda generalized the population who've moved away from php.. php is only a tool.. if it doesn't work for them.. it's pretty much their prerogative.. I don't it's anything to do with elitism (which does exist)..
-
NewTobinParadigm
then I seem to have a talent for finding it
-
ewong
I'm not saying there *isn't* any elitism in open source.. there is...
-
ewong
anyway... off
-
therube
no clue myself, but maybe this could provide a clue to our 2.53 session restore issues ?
old.reddit.com/r/waterfox/comments/…indow_called_from_background_thread
-
frg_away
therube. Not sure. I didn't see anything in the logs. Might need to do a debug build but I probably will just rip out the old code and see how this goes then. I suspect either a history problem and/or some timing issue or missing pricipal referrer somewhere in the sessionstore file. It works for the first time but not the second with a new one.

WG9s
frg_away: sent you a new view source patch for c-c the one i sent before had some bad cutting and pasting.
-
frg_away
WG9s saw it. Still busy at work. Hopefully later.
-
frg_away
sent you 2 for 2.53 back.
-
WG9s
ok looking
-
WG9s
will try to get new 2.53 builds today with those
-
WG9s
i sudeenly noticed loking at the patch that it was using the messneger dtd file of both cohices on the ifdef
-
WG9s
so don;t use the c-c view source patch form the email that has 4 attachments
-
WG9s
frg_away: ok i have the new patches all staged. i will kick off these builds after the 2.57 builds today
-
WG9s
frg_away: and i just simplified the staging of patches so that they only need to be on my serverand other systems download them form there. this is consitant with the way all of my other builds work.
-
frg_away
WG9s Bill, your editmenuoverlay Patch seems to miss the downloadmanager.xul now under components. Just checking them now.
-
WG9s
frg_away: meant to ask about that in the email guess i forgot all i did was remove all of the references to the old stuff to make it apply
-
frg_away
WG9s should work 1:1 if you just change the location
-
WG9s
frg OK I will look at it today and send you new patches
-
frg_away
WG9s and add the proprocessing for it in the new jar.mn
-
WG9s
frg_away: yes
-
frg_away
WG9s Just sent you a mail. I fixed the patcheh header and just renamed them. Maybe you could use these as a base.
-
WG9s
frg_away: OK
-
WG9s
frg_away: might not have time till tomorrow but it is on my todo list
-
frg_away
WG9s no worries
-
WG9s
frg_away: had i not decided to bite the bullet and change how my 2.53 builds work today would ahve been no problem but i really don;t expect this to work on the first try
-
WG9s
frg_away: and almost time for the linux build so might be busy fixing 2.53 build issues
-
frg_away
WG9s knocking on wood
-
WG9s
frg_away: all aof my other builds work off a small script file which downloads the real build sciprt file off of my server which then downloads everythong else form the server including any patches. the 2.,53 i thought would be only a short term temporary thing so it kind of required everyting to be local. i finally got tired of having to update the patch queue in so many places an not...
-
WG9s
...being able to really do a build on a different system if tyring to do windows builds in parrellel.
-
WG9s
frg_away: this also ensures that the files i refernce on the page match exactly with what i built because those are the zip files the build uses to obtain the current patch queue.
-
frg_away
WG9s I am thinking of putting up a 2.53 repo on gitlab. Patch Queue becomes unmanagable.
-
WG9s
frg_away: i was going to suggest that.
-
WG9s
frg_away: except now that M$ is taking over github ..
-
WG9s
frg_away: and perhaps that is too local M$ is shorthand for Microsoft
-
frg_away
WG9s that is why I opened an account on gitlab. My nick there was still available. Taken on github
-
WG9s
frg_away: i have a github account also
-
WG9s
oh you said gitlab
-
WG9s
i don;t have an acccount there
-
WG9s
i will try to open one
-
WG9s
frg_away: OK I have an account on Gitlab now
-
frg_away
WG9s seems they had a "run in" of new users since the github sale
-
» WG9s wonders if the linux kernel will move to gitlabs
-
WG9s
frg_away: like i guessed it did not work and i did not have a -0x on the script invocation where it failed so hard to figure out what happened. relaunch with the -x
-
WG9s
frg_away: ok i think i fixed it and linux build runing now
-
frg_away
WG9s two more patches on the way for 2.53. Not urgent.
-
WG9s
frg_away: maybe u can get those in before i do the windows build
-
frg_away
WG9s the two via mail are it for today. The others need some prerequisites and porting them now.
-
frg_away
night all

Are there any plans to support the media plugins (openh264 and that other thing) in SeaMonkey the way they are in Firefox? Or am I stuck needing to find another browser (e.g. a copy of Firefox) if I want to view stuff on ABC iView? (which now needs h264 and such instead of the Flash it was using before)
